The aim of the MBROLA project, started by the TCTS Laboratory of the Facult Polytechnique de Mons (Belgium), is to acquire a set of speech synthesizers for as numerous languages as possible, and provide them complimentary for non-commercial applications. Festival offers a general structure for building speech synthesis systems as well as consisting of examples of various modules.
